Real Estate Photography Tips for Agents Who Shoot on a Phone
July 18, 2026 · 6 min read

Not every agent can hire a photographer for every listing, and that is fine. A modern phone takes a great photo if you know a few tricks. Pair these habits with a quick AI polish and your phone photos will hold their own against a pro.
Shoot at the right height
Hold the phone at chest height, not eye level. Chest height keeps the vertical lines straight and shows more of the floor, which makes rooms feel larger. Keep the phone level so the walls do not lean.
Light is everything
- Open all the curtains and blinds before you shoot.
- Turn on every light, including lamps, for a warm even glow.
- Shoot during the day when the home gets the most natural light.
- Avoid pointing straight into a bright window.
Frame from the corner
Stand in a corner and shoot toward the opposite corner. This shows two full walls and gives the room depth. It is the single easiest way to make a small room look roomy.
Finish with a polish
Even a good phone photo can look flat straight out of the camera. Run it through Photo Enhancement to balance the light and color, and if the sky is grey outside, the Sky Replacement tool drops in a clean blue sky. A minute of polish is the difference between fine and professional.
